Our children continue to have a dramatic effect on our lives, gradually changing our perspective by directing light into darkened corners of ignorance, neglect, and insensitivity. Especially when it comes to making healthy choices for our bodies and our environment.
I haven't eaten fast food for a couple of years now. It goes back to a clean sweep Catherine took Cynthia through, throwing out all the poor food choices in our pantry, and taking us on an enlightening shopping trip to Trader Joes. I take probiotic vitamins and green food everyday now, and eat pretty reasonable kinds of things, staying increasingly away from processed stuff. I use castile soap, and avoid contact with the strange chemicals that are all around us when at all possible.
I've always been pretty green in that I never want to throw something away that can be fixed, sometimes to a fault. I hate the thought of one more thing cluttering the landfill or junk yard out of laziness and consumerism. Cynthia's becoming more that way too, now. And she's starting to recycle as much as possible.
We choose to live close to where we work, so that cuts down my fossil fuel contribution to destroying our atmosphere to some degree. My latest conviction is on buying individual serving water bottles from the store. Too many containers, too much waste.
Cynthia's watching the show "Living with Ed" all the time about living green, and I feel some changes coming. Windmills, solar panels, who knows...
We have a long way to go, but our kids continue to be patient with us and set good examples for us in making choices that are healthy for our bodies and the earth we live on. So why all this discussion today?
I'M EATING A BOWL OF HAND MADE GRANOLA THAT IS STORED IN A GLASS CONTAINER!!!!
Thank you Chris, Catherine, and Laura for speaking into our lives. We are proud of who you are, what you do, and we love you very much.
