Tortilla Flats and and Evening Cruise

Last night we traveled up into the mountains for a lake cruise. Along the way we say classic dessert scenes of saguaro cactus and a couple of road side areas right out of a western movie. We stopped in Tortilla Flats, way up in the mountains. Inside the local store was an old friend that got to close to receiving end of some cowboy or indian's weapon of choice. Now he spends his days hanging out with visitors from all around. They put their names on one dollar bills and staple them to the wall. There are over 35000 of them so far!

At the lake, we boarded a stern wheeler that was decked out with dinner tables. We headed up river (the lake is man-made) through the mountains, and enjoyed spectacular vistas and steak and chicken.

As the sun went down, we were treated to a starry night and twilight lit ridges. Here's a shot Miss Cynthia took. I've got lots and lots more...
