So, our thanksgiving break made up for the difficult free weekend we had previously. here are some pictures of that free weekend:

Tuesday evening saw the genesis of a new opportunity to enjoy a long break. It started with Val, our friend who would be taking us to the glorious metropolis of Allentown for our evening rock and roll show, telling us that she had invited along her new friend, maja from norway, to join us. We met these fine people in windcrest house, and I brought along four mix cd's that I made that have all the songs on them that I want to listen to. No one else brought any cd's, except Catherine brought a johnny cash cd she checked out from the library, but I don't think she really wanted to listen to it in the van, so my cd's were the one's we listened to. Allentown is an hour or so north of Soltane, and it seems kind of nice, and the show was at a bar called the crocodile rock. it was nice to see some rock and roll music.

The next day, we went to Rachel's parent's house in Landsdale, PA, also about an hour from Soltane, and we just sat there until saturday morning. While we were there, we saw squirrels, finches, sparrows, tufted titmouses, cardinals, a fox, and some deer and a groundhog (the last two were at Soltane, though, next to nantmel farm) and Rachel's parents were excruciatingly kind to us. Rachel let us borrow her corolla to drive it to New Hope, a town on the Delaware River, across from NJ, filled with old homes and chic shops, a starbucks selling gingerbread lattes, and a town that occurs 10 miles before it with no apparent name but bearing a resemblance to the description we were given of New Hope. we mistakenly spent an hour or two wandering through the wrong community of stores before we overheard someone being given directions to New Hope at the restaurant. Since we thought we were in New Hope, this information startled us, and we eavesdropped carefully. Then we had a new hope, and we went to New Hope, and then we went back to Rachel's and all her high school friends came to visit and they built a campfire in the backyard and sat around it and we happily sat inside watching a movie with Rachel's parents.
